Entrepreneurship Program

SIDAREC believes in a holistic approach to human development and food is a critical need in every scenario. It is this simplistic approach to development that popularized SIDAREC programs among slums dwellers.

Provision of Foods is done in form of encouraging small individual and group businesses for residents who more often than not are jobless but continue to volunteer in SIDAREC community activities.

This is form of incentive that makes more people wish to participate in SIDAREC activities in-order to earn a small loan to start a business. It a challenge for SIDAREC to give such incentives due to lack of enough funds to meet the demand.

However, despite all odds some of the projects, with time, have grown to a level of sustaining the owners while others collapse due to other unavailable factors such as demands from members of extended families, increasing costs of living and wrong choice of businesses; compounded further by change in peoples lifestyles that made some of them irrelevant.

Notable activities in this program include: -

         v      Business training

v      Linking the youth to innovate money-making skills through the internet aspracticed elsewhere.

v      Sourcing for exchange visits regionally and abroad on behalf of community members for the purpose of cross-cultural exchange and learning.

v      SIDAREC is a member of local and International Networks that work with marginalized people for the purpose of knowledge sharing and seeking available opportunities for the poor
