Children fun day.
Under this program therefore, SIDAREC supports and promotes activities that develop a child in a holistic manner. this includes interactive learning to orient children on how to express themselves as well as playing and reading.

Besides, children are also involved in social activities and forums that address social vices, nutrition, environmental cleanliness, HIV/Aids and behavioral change.

SIDAREC has two resource centers in two large slums in Nairobi city namely Majengo and Mukuru Kwa Njenga. In both centers about 500 children aged 2-6 years are graduated. This gives a total of 5,000 children graduated since the project began in 1996. The early childhood Education is provided for free and Youth care-Givers are entrusted with the children by the parents who intern contribute money to buy porridge and cook it for their children. Under the program other activities include:-

v      Week-end reading tent
v      Daily guided afternoon video shows

v      Counseling for sexually abused children together with parents and guardians

v      Placements of orphans to care institutions and volunteer guardians in the communities.
